Alex Halpern – General Manager
Alex started his theatrical career by helping to build the Tricycle Theatre, Kilburn and despite the long hours and negligible salary; Alex soon decided that he was hooked. Now a veteran of the industry with 30 years’ experience behind him (which makes him feel a little old), Alex has worked on productions large and small all over the world.
Alex spent 18 years working in stage & company management, starting with community theatre productions (he’s still in therapy for a street theatre production in Portsmouth) and slowly working his way up to large scale plays and musicals including productions of Annie, Mutiny!, Passion and Blood Brothers. International tours include Les Liaisons Dangereuses for the Royal Shakespeare Company and also heading up a 120 strong company on Riverdance.
Despite a brief sojourn into the world of computer software development, Alex returned to the theatre world and has also been Production Manager for Bill Kenwright, Associate General Manager for the owners of the James Bond franchise, the Broccoli family, on their production of La Cava and General Manager on the West End, UK Tour and Singapore productions of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Most recently Alex was General Manager for Lunchbox Theatrical Productions and took shows to the Far East, Europe, Australia and New Zealand including Chicago, Cats, West Side Story, Stomp and Imperial Ice Stars productions of Swan Lake on Ice and Cinderella on Ice, including a run at the Royal Albert Hall.
After many years of travelling, Alex is delighted to be settled in Covent Garden with David Ian Productions and his first project has been the West End production of Flashdance the Musical.
