La Cage Aux Folles, currently starring Graham Norton, leads the Laurence Olivier Awards race, receiving seven nominations across six categories.
The Laurence Olivier Awards, regarded as the most prestigious awards in London theatre, were established in 1976 in order to recognise distinguished artistic achievement in London theatre.
Nominations for La Cage Aux Folles, music and lyrics by Jerry Herman, book by Harvey Fierstein, based on the play “La Cage Aux Folles” by Jean Poiret, at the Playhouse theatre, are:
- Best Musical Revival
- Best Actor In A Musical - Douglas Hodge
- Best Actor In A Musical - Denis Lawson
- Best Performance In A Supporting Role In A Musical - Jason Pennycooke
- Best Director - Terry Johnson
- Best Theatre Choreographer - Lynne Page
- Best Costume Design - Matthew Wright
